Sustainable Agriculture
IT'S EASY BEING GREEN!

What makes sustainable agriculture so great, and what is all this 'green/local' hype really about anyways?

It is about taking our health and money back from big corporate farmers. We have the power to choose to be healthier and to support conscious, ethical & local farming. From the ground up, from the seedling to the finished plant, we try our best to work with nature and be stewards of the land. To leave this place a bit better then when we got here for the enjoyment of our children and their future families. Sustainable agriculture is honestly good for everyone.  The environment, economy and individuals all benefit from the type of family farming that has sustained humanity for millennia.

At the heart of sustainability is balanced living soil. Making sure that the soil is amended correctly with beneficial microbes, mycorrhiza,  worms, cover crops, compost, crop rotation & combination plantings ensures that the land will be fertile and productive for decades and centuries to come.

To prevent pests & disease we use Integrated Pest Management, crop rotation, row covers, combination plantings, and organic fungacides & pesticides if a pest population gets 'out of control'.

The fertilizers we use include: Organic Neptune's Harvest, Espoma Planttone, leaf & wood compost, aged chicken and cow manure, wood ash, and cover crops.

We do not believe in using chemical fertilizers on our edible crops.
